Meet the Chamberlin Family: Gwen and Jack Butz

After living in Florida for 28 years, Gwen and Jack joined the Chamberlin community in January of 2015.

Jack and Gwen have been married for 60 years, have 11 grandchildren, six of whom are serving proudly in the military, and one great-grandchild.

Jack was born and raised in Philadelphia and earned his BA and DDS degrees from The University of Pennsylvania. Jack served for five years in the Pennsylvania National Guard and then two years as a dentist in the U.S. Air Force. After leaving the military, Jack practiced private dentistry for 32 years in Woodstock, Vermont. Jack is an author with three books to his name: “Golden Retrievers,” “Golf,” and an autobiography.

Gwen was born in Brooklyn, New York, and graduated from Centenary College in New Jersey before marrying Jack. For a time, Gwen owned a Real Estate business, but also taught dancing, synchronized swimming, skiing and field hockey.

Talk about an active couple, Jack competed in the Florida Senior Olympics in 2007.  Together they enjoy swimming, golf and gardening.

After moving to The Chamberlin for “retirement,” they find themselves busier than ever. Gwen says if she could slow down for a moment, she would like to learn to play Rummikub with everyone in the Grand Lobby.
